First Time Ever! - Two Top Women Poker Players At World Poker Tour Final Table At Foxwoods Casino Resort.
Leading Women Poker Stars Mimi Tran and Kathy Liebert Are 2 and 3 Going Into Final and Are Locked in a Fierce RivalryIf anyone ever had a doubt that women poker players have really arrived on the scene and proved their equality in the game, it is being erased by the first ever appearance of 2 superstar women poker players at a WORLD POKER TOUR (WPT) Final Table at Foxwoods Casino Resort Thursday night. Cash game diva Mini Tran stands in second place in the chip count going into the finale and Kathy Liebert, who has four previous WPT final table appearances and a World Series bracelet, is in the third spot. If either of them win, it will mark the first time a woman has won a WPT open tournament (non invitational). Between these two women, they have amassed millions in prize money and either stands to make millions more if she bests all the five other remaining players in the tournament that started with 608. First prize is $1,717,194; second place is $904,389.
What's even more interesting is that these two have a fierce rivalry! "This is a watershed moment in poker and the WPT," said WPT founder and CEO Steve Lipscomb. "It shows how far the game has come in five short years that women, though smaller in number, are proving that they are the total equals of their male counterparts. This will be an awesome final table."
The Final Table battle will take place on Thursday, November 16 at 4 p.m. at Grand Ballroom, Grand Pequot Tower of Foxwoods Casino Resor, Mashantucket, CT.
"Wow, what a first hand. Mike Perry, waiting for this all his life, re-raised E.G.'s raise, then called with a big, dubious grin as he flipped over pocket kings to Harvin's red twos. The flop came AK3, giving E.G. the flush draw and Mike trips. The river ended Perry's day. E.G.'s nerves should have cost him here, but now he's over T5,000,000. That was one hell of a river."
"The crowd is buzzing furiously. The air was electric before, but now we're anticipating an all-in every hand. What a start." See complete live coverage on the WPT website http://www.worldpokertour.com/tournament/?x=updatesnews.
