Cadillac Escalade Awarded In Addition To Prize Pool At Borgata Winter Poker Open.
If you thought the million-dollar first prizes at virtually every stop on the World Poker Tour were an exciting development, then brace yourself-the stakes just got higher! The winner of the Borgata Winter Poker Open, January 29 - February 1, will be driving home with a new Cadillac Escalade, as well at the over $1 million prize pool and a $25,000-seat in the WPT World Championship. The car, to be awarded by the Borgata Hotel and Casino to inaugurate the Winter Poker Open on the WPT, will mark the first time an automobile will be presented to the winner of a WPT tournament, in addition to the traditional prize money and championship seat. As the WPT closes in on a season that will be within reach of $100 million in prize money, this new twist takes competing on the Tour to an even higher level. The tournament and its unique money presentation will air on the Travel Channel in June.
"You can't beat this New American dream," said Steve Lipscomb, CEO and founder of WPT Enterprises, Inc. "Hats off to the Borgata for giving their WPT winner America's dream car to carry all that cash home in style."
You don't have to be a famous pro to go home with that Escalade. On the WORLD POKER TOUR, "Anyone can play; Anyone can win." In just four years, the WPT has transformed poker into a career destination for touring pros, just like players on the PGA, while also enabling newcomers to get a piece of the estimated $200 million prize money offered over the WPT's four seasons of riveting play.
The WPT launched the poker phenomenon when it first aired on the Travel Channel on March 30, 2003, and it continues to lead the way in developing poker as a major international sport. Viewers and aspiring tour players can log on to www.worldpokertour.com for ways to improve their game and to get the latest WPT schedules, information and merchandise. The highest rated show ever on The Travel Channel, the WPT is now seen in more than 130 countries and territories worldwide. WORLD POKER TOUR(R) airs every Wednesday at 9 p.m. EST/PST on the Travel Channel in the U.S.
