Phil Ivey Boosts His Tournament Earnings To Over $13 Million By Winning 8th WSOP Bracelet In HORSE Event.

Well-known poker pro and Team Full Tilt member Phil Ivey has once again made poker history by winning Event #37 at the 2010 World Series of Poker* in Vegas. Ivey takes home his eighth WSOP* Gold bracelet and a payday of more than $320K in prize money, boosting his total tournament earnings to over $13.1 million.

This victory moves Ivey into fourth position on the All Time Bracelets List, level with Johnny Moss and fellow Team Full Tilt member Erik Seidel. Ivey is the youngest player ever to win eight bracelets and no player has accumulated this many bracelets so quickly. He's also number one on the All Time Money List - a position which has been strengthened by this latest victory.

One of the most revered poker professionals of all time, Ivey has dominated the World Series of Poker* starting with a first-place finish in the $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha event in 2000 at the age of 23. Since his WSOP debut, Ivey has won seven more bracelets, cashed numerous times and made the 2009 Main Event final table, where he added more than $1.4 million to his earnings.

Event #37 was the $3,000 HORSE event which attracted a field of 478 entrants, including some of the world's best mixed-game players and bracelet winners. When play reached Day 3, there was a formidable set of opponents to beat. As the field pared down to just 16 players, Ivey was the short-stack, but by the time the final table was formed, he had fought his way to second in chips. Fellow Team Full Tilt member John Juanda was also at the final table, eventually finishing in 3rd position.

Ivey was looking strong as he entered heads-up play against Bill Chen. His opponent put up a brave battle but Ivey emerged victorious during a round of Razz. On the final hand, Chen committed all of his chips on fifth street with a made 7-6 low hand, while Ivey was in the lead with a made 6-5 low. Chen's hand failed to improve and Ivey won the title, taking home his eighth bracelet and the $329,840 prize money.

In 2009, Phil has proven himself as one of the greatest poker players of all time by winning two WSOP bracelets and by making it to the final table of the Main Event (and finishing in the 7th place and adding just over $1.4 million to his career tournament earnings). His 6th gold bracelet came in the $2.5K No-Limit Deuce-to-Seven Lowball event when he bested a field of 147 entrants, including some of the world's top poker players, for more than $96K. Phil Ivey won his 7th bracelet in the $2.5K Omaha/Seven-Card Stud Hi/Lo event for over $220K in prize money.
